Maureen A. Carlson is an experienced commercial attorney with a litigation background. Maureen is licensed in all Minnesota State Courts and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Prior to joining JUX in 2014, Maureen defended insurance companies and the companies and people they insure, including retail businesses, construction contractors, physicians, lawyers, school districts, automobile drivers, and homeowners in a variety of cases involving negligence, malpractice, defamation, and breach of contract. In addition to her civil litigation experience, Maureen clerked for the Honorable James A. Cunningham, Jr. and was also an Assistant St. Paul City Attorney where she prosecuted domestic assaults and other various crimes. During her time at the St. Paul City Attorney’s office, Maureen appeared in court on a daily basis and conducted numerous trials. Because of this experience, Maureen brings a unique perspective to JUX Law Firm.

Since joining the firm, Maureen has handled commercial matters, including contract review and drafting, commercial leases, vendor agreements, and business formation, among others. Maureen leads the firm’s Medical Professionals Practice Area Team advising physicians, dental providers, and healthcare businesses on a variety of issues, including the purchase and sale of business assets and interests, partnership and shareholder agreements, office and land leases, associate employment, and the formation of new businesses. Maureen also has experience in trademark and copyright law, as well as Minnesota’s medical cannabis statute.

Maureen is a graduate of San Diego State University, magna cum laude, and William Mitchell College of Law, where she served on Law Review. Maureen is also a “Mitchell Mentor” for first and second year law students, has been a frequent guest speaker at various William Mitchell events, and is an active member of the Minnesota Women Lawyers’ Leadership Committee. Maureen also volunteers with the Volunteer Lawyer Network and has been a judge for high school mock trial.

Maureen grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and currently lives with her husband in South Minneapolis.
